Durham covid count at 1,086; deaths at 131

Durham Region Health Department on Tuesday said 1,086 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the region since February 29.

On Monday, the count had stood at 1,075.

Of the total cases, 40 are hospitalized, of which four are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 131, of which 113 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 568.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 417 were in Pickering followed by 277 in Ajax and 180 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 71 reported deaths in Pickering, 69 were in LTCH
  • Of the 29 reported deaths in Ajax, 26 were in LTCH – no change
  • Two deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Of the 19 reported deaths in Oshawa, 14 were in LTCH – no change
  • Six deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH] – no change
  • Four deaths in LTCH were reported in Uxbridge – no change
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog or Brock – no change
