Male cyclist killed in Clarington collision

57-year-old cyclist was killed in a motor vehicle collision in Clarington Tuesday afternoon.

On May 5 at approximately 1:12 pm, members of East Division were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist on Clarington Concession Road 6 and Solina Road in Clarington.

A 57-year-old male cyclist was crossing eastbound through the intersection when he was struck by a southbound grey Dodge Ram pick-up truck. The driver of the pick-up truck stopped and remained at the collision scene. The cyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

This is the sixth roadway fatality in 2020 investigated by the DRPS.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing. Police would like to hear from any witnesses to this collision, who have not already spoken to police.
