Durham covid count at 955, death toll at 107

Durham Region Health Department yesterday said 955 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the region since February 29.

On Wednesday, the count had stood at 933.

Of the total cases, 39 are hospitalized, of which three are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Deaths total 107, of which 90 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 471.

Durham Health yesterday updated the overall community-wide covid breakdown. The highest number of cases at 361 were in Pickering followed by 254 in Ajax and 155 in Oshawa.

Death Toll:

  • Of the 54 reported deaths in Pickering, 52 were in LTCH
  • Of the 26 reported deaths in Ajax, 23 were in LTCH
  • Two deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH]
  • Of the 16 reported deaths in Oshawa, 12 were in LTCH
  • Six deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
  • Three deaths in LTCH were reported in Uxbridge
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog or Brock
