Durham Covid Update: 173 new cases on Tuesday

Durham Health yesterday posted 173 new Covid-19 cases for March 29, taking the region’s tally to 55,784 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

At the end of December, the total case count had stood at 35,663, at 50,241 in January, and 53,117 in February, according to figures posted by Durham Health.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 452 with 242 long-term care (LTC) deaths.

Recoveries stand at 54,777. However, there are 555 active covid cases. Figures for hospitalizations and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and people in home isolation, were not available.

Durham Health reported the highest overall number of covid cases so far in Ajax, with Oshawa a close second.

Covid Deaths: 452

Of the 132 reported deaths in Pickering, 92 were in LTC
Of the 83 reported deaths in Ajax, 34 were in LTC
Of the 72 reported deaths in Whitby, 33 in LTC
Of the 85 reported deaths in Oshawa, 43 were in LTC
30 deaths were reported in Clarington, five in LTC
28 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 21 in LTC
18 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
4 deaths have been reported in Brock
