Durham Covid Update: 336 new cases posted

Durham Health yesterday posted 336 new Covid-19 cases for April 7, taking the region’s tally to 57,075 since the count began on February 29, 2020. On the previous reporting day (April 5), it had posted 56,739 cases.

The total case count had stood at 50,241 in January, 53,117 in February and 56,061 in March.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 469, with 243 of them in long-term care (LTC) facilities.

March toll in the region stood at seven. Twenty-three people died from covid in February, and 31 in January.

Covid Deaths: 469

Of the 137 reported deaths in Pickering, 93 were in LTC
Of the 84 reported deaths in Ajax, 34 were in LTC
Of the 77 reported deaths in Whitby, 33 in LTC
Of the 89 reported deaths in Oshawa, 43 were in LTC
32 deaths were reported in Clarington, five in LTC
28 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 21 in LTC
18 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
4 deaths have been reported in Brock
