Durham Crime: Teen armed robbers, shots in Pickering, Ajax

Durham Police yesterday said two youth were arrested following an armed robbery near Durham College in Oshawa, early Thursday morning.

On January 18 at about 4:45 am, members of Central West Division responded to an armed robbery call at the Durham College bus terminal located at 2000 Simcoe Street North, in Oshawa.

The victim was walking near the bus terminal when he was assaulted by two males, one armed with a knife. The suspects stole the victim’s phone and fled on foot. Police located and arrested both suspects a short distance away, without incident. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries, said a police statement.

A 17-year-old male from Oshawa and a 15-year-old male, also from Oshawa, are charged with robbery. Both were released on an undertaking.

Shots fired at Ajax residence

Multiple gun shots were fired at a residence in Ajax on Wednesday evening.

On January 17 at around 9:25 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed person call at a residence in the area of Williamson Drive East and Middlecote Drive, in Ajax. Multiple shots were fired into the victim’s garage, becoming lodged in vehicles and the main floor laundry room. There were no physical injuries reported, police said.

Shot fired at Pickering apartment

A single gunshot was fired at an apartment in Pickering on Wednesday evening.

On January 17 at about 9 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Pickering Parkway and Valley Farm Road.

A gunshot was fired at the victim’s apartment and went through a patio door. This does not appear to be a targeted incident. There were no physical injuries reported, police said.
