Durham Crime: Police out in force chase suspects to Toronto

One adult male and four male youth are in custody after an armed robbery at a pharmacy in Pickering, according to Durham Police.

On Thursday, January 18 at about 2:30 pm, members of West Division responded to an armed robbery call at the Guardian Drug Store located at 1298 Kingston Road, in Pickering.

Four males entered the pharmacy, one armed with a gun, demanding access to the store safe. The males stole narcotics and cash before fleeing in a waiting white Chevrolet four-door sedan.

Police located the suspect vehicle entering the westbound 401 Highway. The suspect vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen out of Peel Region on Tuesday, January 16.

With the assistance of the Robbery Unit, K9 Unit, Tactical Support Unit, and York Regional Police Service’s Air2, the suspect vehicle was strategically followed to the Allenby Avenue and Hadrian Drive area in Toronto, said a police statement.

The suspect vehicle was abandoned near a walking path and the five suspects fled on foot. Police located and arrested all suspects a short distance away, without incident.

The adult suspect, age 19 from Toronto, and four younger ones were charged. All males were held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Home invasion with firearm in Ajax

Police are looking for four suspects after an armed home invasion in Ajax early Wednesday morning.

On January 17 at around 3 am, members of West Division responded to an armed home invasion call in the area of Lake Driveway East and Lewin Crescent, in Ajax.

Two suspects entered the residence and made threats toward the victim before causing property damage. The suspects fled the area in a late model Grey SUV, said police.

The first suspect is described as: male, Black, approximately 5’11”. He was wearing a dark face mask, gloves, a dark jacket, and dark pants.

The second suspect is described as: male, Black, approximately 6’1”. He was wearing a dark face mask, gloves, a dark jacket, and dark pants.

The third suspect is described as: male, Black, approximately. He was wearing a dark face mask, gloves, a dark jacket, and dark pants.

The fourth suspect is described as: male, Black. He was wearing a dark face mask, gloves, a dark jacket, and dark pants.

Assault with noxious substance

A male youth was arrested after spraying another youth with a noxious substance during a verbal altercation at a high school in Whitby.

On Friday, January 12, members of Central West Division responded to an assault call at Henry Street High School located at 600 Henry Street, in Whitby.

Two students we’re involved in a verbal altercation inside the high school, and one sprayed the other with a noxious substance. The suspect youth fled the area. The victim sustained minor injuries. The substance was determined to be dog spray.

A 16-year-old male from Whitby has been charged and released on an undertaking.

Drug investigation

A male is in custody following a drug investigation in Clarington.

On Thursday, January 11, members of the East Division Community Response Team concluded a drug investigation and executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Aspen Springs Drive and Green Road, in Clarington. Numerous drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm were located within the residence. The resident was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect, age 44 from Clarington was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
