Traffic Alert: Roadworks in Oshawa, Clarington and Scugog

Durham residents may expect traffic delays with roadworks – ongoing or upcoming – in the City of Oshawa, the Municipality of Clarington and the Township of Scugog.

In Oshawa, Colborne Street West will be closed to through traffic until Friday, September 11.

The Colborne Street closure was scheduled to take place from  September 8 between Kaiser Crescent and Centre Street North for a service connection at 115 Colborne Street West.

No through access will be available for emergency vehicles.

Clarington Roadworks

The Municipality of Clarington yesterday announced road rehabilitation work beginning September 8 in Courtice, Newcastle and Enniskillen.

Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of October; however, timelines are approximate and may vary depending on weather and other factors.

It said work will include:

  • Removal and replacement of surface asphalt and base asphalt (where applicable)
  • Removal and replacement of concrete sidewalks and curbs
  • Asphalt paving
  • Road shoulder reinstatement (where applicable)
  • Ditching and boulevard restoration

Affected roads in Courtice include:

  • Sandringham Drive, from Regional Highway 2 to Trulls Road
  • Strathallan Drive, from Sandringham Drive to Trulls Road
  • Hathaway Drive, from Robert Adams Drive to White Cliffe Drive
  • White Cliffe Drive/Court, from Hathaway Drive to Robert Adams Drive
  • Halstead Road, from White Cliffe Drive to Hathaway Drive
  • Baseline Road, from Trulls Road to Courtice Road

Affected roads in Newcastle include:

  • Raymond Court
  • Vincent Court
  • Port Darlington Road at Milligan Street

Affected roads in Enniskillen include:

  • Old Scugog Road, from Concession Road 3 to Salter Court

Clarington said traffic delays may be expected as lane reductions and short-term road closures are implemented during working hours. Garbage and recycling collection, as well as deliveries, will remain uninterrupted during construction.

Scugog Road Closure

The township has advised that Scugog Line 6 from Lake Ridge to Marsh Hill Road will be closed Thursday, September 10. This closure is expected to be in place the full day with the road reopening Friday, September 11, weather permitting.

This closure is to replace a cross culvert located 150m east of Lake Ridge Road. Local traffic will be maintained. The following detours will be in place for non-local traffic:

Heading West: Access Lake Ridge Road from Medd Road (north of Scugog Line 6) or Goodwood Road (south of Scugog Line 6), and

Heading East: Access Marsh Hill Road from Medd Road (north of Scugog Line 6) or Goodwood Road (south of Scugog Line 6)
