After withdrawing its intention to name three properties as having heritage value (see below), the Municipality of Clarington has announced the names of three other properties it has designated as heritage sites.
Clarington decided against 38 Centre Street, 50 Centre Street, and 38 Second Street, all in Bowmanville as of architectural and historical value under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
Instead, at a meeting on August 19, Clarington Council designated three other properties for their architectural and historical value under the act.
The properties are located at:
- 106 Beaver Street, Newcastle
- 107 Beaver Street, Newcastle
- 3438 Green Road, Bowmanville
This was announced on Friday September 4.
Heritage designation is the formal recognition of a property’s heritage value and its significance to the community. It helps to conserve important places for the enjoyment of present and future generations, the municipality said.
