Durham Health extends extreme cold alert

Durham Health Department yesterday extended the Extreme Cold Weather Alert until the morning of Saturday, February 15.

There is also a potential for the Cold Weather Alert to reoccur from the evening of Sunday, February 16 until the morning of Monday, February 17, it said adding temperatures can be verified on the Environment Canada website.

The Region issues Extreme Cold Weather Alerts when the temperature is forecast to reach -15 degrees Celsius or colder, and/or when the wind chill is forecast to reach -20 degrees Celsius or colder, and when weather conditions are severe enough to warrant alerting the community to the risks involved with prolonged exposure.
