Durham Hero: Cst. Cornes wins Chuck Mercier Award

Cst. Catherine Cornes of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has won the Chuck Mercier Award, which recognizes the police officer who created the most innovative police-youth program which took place in the Durham Region and was funded by ProAction.

The award was presented to her during the ProAction virtual gala for her cooking program. Her after-school cooking program helped kids feel empowered to cook meals for their families and allowed her to make a positive connection to youth, said a DRPS congratulatory statement.

Congratulations Cst. Cornes!
