Durham launches covid FAQs; posts 3 new cases

Durham Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Kyle, yesterday announced the addition of frequently asked questions, to the Covid-19 Data Tracker.

“Questions such as ‘What is a confirmed case?’, ‘How are the data collected?’, ‘Why are probable cases not reported?’, plus many others, are answered in detail to provide you with a better understanding of the work that is being undertaken by the Health Department,” he said in a statement.

Dr. Kyle said the FAQs were developed from public feedback. “We value and welcome your feedback – if you have a question that isn’t listed, please let us know. We will continue to monitor all inquiries received and expand this list, as necessary, to ensure the information we share meets the needs of Durham Region residents.”

Three new cases

Meanwhile, Durham Health reported three new covid cases yesterday, bringing the total to 1,907 since the count began on February 29.

Two new cases were reported in Ajax and one in Pickering.

No new covid-related death has been announced in Durham since July 9.

Two cases are hospitalized with two cases in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 40 people in home isolation. Deaths so far total 181, of which 152 were in long term care homes (LTCH). Recoveries number 1,684.

Durham Health yesterday reported the highest number of cases at 623 in Pickering followed by 519 in Ajax and 293 in Oshawa.

Death Toll: No new death reported

  • Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
  • Of the 37 reported deaths in Ajax, 31 were in LTCH
  • Four deaths were reported in Whitby [none in LTCH]
  • Of the 23 reported deaths in Oshawa, 15 were in LTCH
  • Seven deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
  • 21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
  • No deaths have been reported in Scugog
  • No deaths have been reported in Brock
