Durham posts 202 recoveries from covid

Durham Heath has added three new Covid-19 deaths in the past week, taking the December toll 37. There were five deaths in November.

Second recent death outside of a long term care home (LTCH) was reported in Ajax. Two new deaths were at an Oshawa LTCH.

Durham Health also reported 91 new covid cases for December 14, bringing the region’s total to 5,752 cases since the count began on February 29.

Recoveries stand at 4,758, up by 202. There were 770 active covid cases.

According to Durham Health, there were:

  • 31 new cases in Ajax
  • 13 in Pickering
  • 8  in Whitby
  • 6 in Oshawa, and
  • 3 in Clarington
  • 39 cases are under investigation

Thirty-five cases are hospitalized with seven in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 735 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 224, of which 192 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,692 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Two new in Oshawa, one in Ajax

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 40 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Thirty deaths were reported in Whitby, 25 in LTCH
Of the 36 reported deaths in Oshawa, 28 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
