Female pedestrian seriously injured

Durham police yesterday said a 25-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the roadway in Oshawa Thursday night.

On July 9 at 9:04 pm, members of Central East Division were called to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Taunton Road and Simcoe Street in Oshawa. The female pedestrian from Oshawa was crossing Taunton Road, within the crosswalk and was struck by a white Honda Civic proceeding eastbound through the intersection.

The female pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and then transferred to a Toronto area trauma centre for treatment where she remains in serious condition. The driver of the Honda Civic was uninjured, remained at the scene and co-operated with investigators.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation.
