First homicide of 2020 in Durham: Man stabbed

The first homicide of the year in Durham occurred yesterday in Ajax, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

It said homicide investigators were called out to a stabbing scene which claimed the life of a 21-year-old Ajax man.

On June 4 at about 1:20 pm, members of West Division were called to a residence on Tams Drive in Ajax for a stabbing. Police located a male with serious injuries from being stabbed.  His vital signs were absent and he was taken by EMS to a local hospital, police said.

Two males were taken into custody at the scene. It appears to be an isolated incident and there are no suspects at large, police said.

Despite best efforts by healthcare professionals, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. This is Durham Region’s first homicide victim of 2020, they added.
