Foot patrol officers seize cache of weapons in Oshawa

Durham Police foot patrol officers arrested a suspect and seized several weapons on Friday morning in Oshawa.

On June 24, members of Central East Division Community Resource Unit were out on a foot patrol in the downtown core of Oshawa, when they observed a male sitting outside a stairwell of Centre Street with two samurai swords on his lap. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and police seized several knives, two samurai swords and an imitation firearm, said a police report.

The suspect from Oshawa was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Firearm and drugs seized during traffic stop

A 32-year-old male and a 41-year-old female face numerous charges after police seized a firearm during a traffic stop in Oshawa Sunday evening.

On June 26 at about 7:50 pm, a member of Central West Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Grandview Street North and Rossland Road East. The driver of the motor vehicle was placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant. As that investigation continued officers located a firearm and a large quantity of narcotics in the vehicle, said the police.

Officers seized the following narcotics: 134.5 grams of Crystal Meth, 19.8 grams of Cocaine, 14.6 grams of Crack Cocaine, 51 grams of Fentanyl, 21 pills of Codeine Tech 3, 90 pills of Clonazepan, 100 grams of Benzocaine and 10.7 grams of Cannabis.

One suspect is from Ajax and and the other has no fixed address. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Both parties were held for a bail hearing.

Three held with drugs

On June 25, officers from Central East Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ritson Road and Conant Street in Oshawa.

Police arrested a 33-year old male of no fixed address and two 34-year olds, one from Oshawa and one from Clarington for drug possession. Police seized fentanyl, cocaine, and cash.

As part of the street level drug investigation, members of the Centre East Division Community Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence on Bloor Street East and seized crystal meth, cocaine and cash.
