Meet on new neighbourhood in Bowmanville

Clarington has announced a meeting will be held to discuss the Soper Springs Secondary Plan, which proposes to create a new neighbourhood in Bowmanville that includes housing, new parks, and trail connections.

“A top priority is preserving the surrounding natural environment,” said a council notice.

It said as part of the Secondary Plan, an Environmental Assessment (EA) is being undertaken for the Mearns Avenue extension.

The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 6:30 pm. This will be the third Public Information Centre (PIC), where details of the proposed housing types and park locations for the north Bowmanville neighbourhood, will be discussed.

The municipality said the Soper Springs Secondary Plan is an opportunity to create a cohesive and sustainable neighbourhood that balances where people live with the surrounding natural environment. The urban design of the community will incorporate strong connections to nature, parks and trails. This new neighbourhood will be designed to include sustainable design elements and features that are adaptable to climate change.
