Have your say on three new telecom towers in Oshawa

A public meeting will be held on June 6 at 6:30 pm, regarding a proposal for new Telecommunication Towers submitted by Fontur International on behalf of Rogers Communications.

The tower is proposed at 171 Harmony Road South as well as one submitted by SpectraPoint on behalf of Rogers Communications and The Trustees of the Kedron Congregation of the United Church of Canada at Kedron for lands at 1995 Ritson Road North, and another for lands at 900 Colonel Sam Drive.

The Oshawa Development Services Committee will be considering the above referenced privately initiated proposal for the city-owned lands at the public meeting.

This public meeting will take place in the Council Chamber, Oshawa City Hall, 50 Centre Street South.

Rogers Communications proposes to construct a 30 metre (98.4 ft) high telecommunication tower with associated equipment at 171 Harmony Road South (Donevan Recreation Complex), a 24 metre (78.7 ft) high telecommunication tower with associated fencing and equipment at 1995 Ritson Road North (Kedron United Church) and, a 40 metre (131.2 ft) high telecommunication tower with associated fencing and equipment at 900 Colonel Sam Drive.

Telecommunication towers are regulated by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada requires telecommunication operators to consult with the city on certain telecommunication tower proposals. Before the city provides any comments to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada it is important to obtain public input. The purpose of the public meeting is to obtain public comments on this new telecommunication tower proposal.
