Hit Ajax pedestrian serious after head injury

A 56-year-old Ajax man has been seriously injured after being struck by a motor vehicle in Ajax Tuesday morning.

On February 25 at about 6:20 am., members from West Division were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Church Street near Bayly Street in Ajax. A 56-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a car-carrier turning southbound onto Church Street, said a police media release.

The pedestrian was struck and thrown to the roadway, were he sustained a serious head injury. The driver of the car-carrier stopped immediately and was not injured, it added.

The male was provided medical assistance by emergency services and later air-lifted to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in critical condition.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
