DRPS Homicide investigators were called out to a rural area after human remains were discovered in a shallow grave in Pickering.
On Sunday, August 21, at approximately 2:30 pm, members of West Division were called to the area of Concession Road 8 and Sideline 20 after a citizen located burnt human remains in a shallow grave. Forensic Investigators were called to assist and are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner and a Forensic Anthropologist to recover the remains. A post-portem will be conducted to determine more details about the deceased, said a police statement.
Police are urging any witnesses who may have information or who may have used the off-road/ATV trail in the last three weeks to come forward and speak with investigators.
