Should vehicle idling time be cut to 2 minutes?

Should other Durham municipalities follow the lead of the Township of Scugog and cut vehicle idling time to just two minutes in an hour?

Scugog has authorized its officers to enforce the bylaw and impose fines on violators.

However, there are several exceptions, such as for police, fire, ambulance or township vehicles on official business; vehicles assisting in an emergency, agricultural vehicles, mobile workshops, idling necessary for maintenance and repairs, armoured vehicles, stationary vehicles in emergency, traffic or weather conditions etc.

The amendment was passed at the end of June.
