Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has revealed that impaired driving calls are up 19 per cent in Durham Region so far this year – before the so-called ‘busy’ [festive] season.
The statistic was released at the launch of the 2019 Festive RIDE Campaign yesterday. Region of Durham Chair John Henry and other dignitaries were present.
Henry sent out a clear message: “We will not tolerate impaired driving on our roads.”
“Do the right thing – Don’t drive impaired,” he added.
Henry thanked first responders for their commitment to community safety – taking time from their own holiday traditions and celebrations to ensure all families have a happy holiday season.
The 31st annual campaign got underway in Ajax.
