Intersection closed after four-vehicle collision

A four-vehicle collision closed the main intersection in Utica for several hours, but fortunately resulted in no serious injuries.

On February 19 at approximately 4:10 pm, North Division Officers were called to Regional Road 21 and Marsh Hill Road in Scugog Township (Utica) regarding a multi-vehicle collision.

Several vehicles travelling westbound on Regional Road 21 had stopped for a vehicle making a left-hand turn to go southbound on Marsh Hill Road. A grey Honda was also travelling westbound and did not slow down, striking a white Honda. The white Honda was then pushed into the eastbound lane, where it was struck by another vehicle.

Estimated damages to all four vehicles involved is $40,000. The driver of the grey Honda, a 72-year-old Scugog Township man, was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act. All of the drivers involved and passengers remained on scene and were not seriously injured.

The intersection was closed for several hours as the scene was processed. Anyone with information about this incident or witnessed this collision is asked to call Cst. Prins of North Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2022.
