GO Transit operator Metrolinx has announced Pickering track maintenance works. It included overnight rail replacement work on Friday and Saturday between Rodd Avenue and Whites Road in Pickering.
Equipment used white noise back up alarm to limit the amount of noise due to the vehicle reversing alarm, it advised.
Lane Restrictions: Meanwhile, the City of Pickering advised of temporary lane restrictions on Rodd Avenue, at the railway tracks (south end of Rosebank Road).
- Purpose: Metrolinx GO Rail System Improvements – surface grind and repaving at railway tracks
- Duration: Monday, June 1 to Wednesday, June 3 from 7 am to 5 pm.
Emergency vehicles will have access at all times, the city said.
Works on Ajax GO station east platform
Metrolinx said that the Ajax GO train station platform construction work is complete on the west side of the platform.
Starting May 19 work switched to the east side of the platform. This has changed how customers board and exit the train, it said
“We’re updating amenities, enhancing accessibility, and making it easier to access GO services,” said a Megtrolinx statement.
At Ajax GO:
- Look for signs to show you where to wait on the platform.
- The east tunnel will be closed during construction. Use the west tunnel.
- Physical distancing measures are still in effect, so remember to spread out along the platform and board all available coach doors to keep trains on schedule.
At Union Station:
- Listen to the announcements on train. Not all coaches will open at your station.
- If you are unsure, ask the customer service ambassador in the accessible coach for assistance.
Metrolinx advised commuters to give themselves extra time.
