Man buys new truck with fraudulent identification

A 47-year-old man is facing charges after he purchased a vehicle using fraudulent identification.

On Friday, September 13, the suspect attended the Taylor Ford dealership in Port Perry and used fraudulent identification to finance a brand new 2019 Ford F-150 truck. Members of the Financial Crime Unit were contacted and it was determined that the transaction was fraudulent. The vehicle was located at the Port of Vancouver awaiting export. The vehicle was recovered and the suspect was arrested in Kingston.

Kofi Yevakpor, age 47 of No Fixed Address, has been charged with: Fraud Over $5,000; Personation with Intent; Possess Identity Document x2; Make False Statement to Procure Loan; Defraud Creditors and Posses Counterfeit Mark x2. He was held for a bail hearing.
