Man dies after crashing car into tree

A 25-year-old resident of Clarington has died as a result of a single motor vehicle collision that occurred in Newtonville Road in Clarington Friday night.

On Friday, November 20, 2020 at approximately 7:25 p.m., members of East Division were called to a serious single motor vehicle collision on Lakeshore Road west of Newtonville Road. A passing motorist on Lakeshore Road came across a 2009 black Hyundai Accent that had left the roadway on the south side, struck a large tree and partially rolled over. The passing motorist immediately called 911.

Emergency services attended the scene and extricated the driver from the vehicle. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The 25-year-old male succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced dead at hospital.

It is believed that the collision occurred approximately one hour prior to the call to 9-1-1.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected
