Man dies after losing control of motorcycle

A 23-year-old Pickering man was killed after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding in north Pickering Sunday evening.

On September 20 at about 5 pm, members from North Division were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Pickering Concession Road 7 and Chalk Lane Road. Witnesses reported that a motorcycle was northbound on Concession Road 7 when it lost control, left the roadway and struck metal post off the highway. The rider was ejected from the bike and sustained extensive injuries, said a police statement.

Durham Paramedic Services and Pickering Fire attended the scene and provided medical assistance to the injured rider. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, it added.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
