Proposed GO Train powers West Urban Centre

The new GO Train station and the related transit-oriented development (TOD), are key drivers of change for the Bowmanville West Urban Centre.

But the question is: how to balance new growth with new green spaces.

Residents are being asked to share ideas on this very issue by Clarington.

Bowmanville West Urban Centre is being planned as the main concentration of commercial and mixed-use development in Clarington. It will include a diversity of housing, shopping, and services, along with new open spaces and boulevards.

Walkable streets and sustainable design will create a vibrant neighbourhood where young families and older adults will enjoy living and working side by side. Improved cycling and pedestrian opportunities will provide better connections to the rest of the community, said a Clarington statement.

It asked residents to join an online Public Information Centre to learn what this will mean for the development of Bowmanville West.
