Two Oshawa men charged in fraud Mercedes buy

Two Oshawa men were arrested and charged in connection with the fraudulent purchase of a luxury vehicle, Durham Police said yesterday.

An investigation into one of the Oshawa men connected him to a small group of people involved in a vehicle acquisition fraud. The men made arrangements for a 26-year-old Toronto woman to purchase a 2016 Mercedes Benz E400 in Mississauga, using fraudulent identification they provided to her.

The female and the three men were identified and arrested in August and September 2020. The value of the vehicle (which was recovered), cash and property seized as part of this investigation is approximately $120,000.

Malika Wisdom, age 26, of Toronto is charged with: Fraud Over $5,000; Possess Identification of Another Person; Possession of Property Obtained By Crime; Personation to Gain Advantage; and Make False Statement to Procure Loan.

Abeeku Arhin, age 26, of Oshawa has been charged with: Fraud Over $5,000; Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence; and Traffic Identification of Another Person.

Kenneth Nkrumah, age 29, of Toronto is charged with: Fraud Over $5,000; Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence; Traffic Identification of Another Person; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; Possess Identity Documents of Another x3; Theft of Credit Card; and Possess Counterfeit Mark x3;

Leo Robinson, age 30, of Oshawa is charged with: Fraud Over $5,000; and Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence.
