A 26-year-old Mississauga man died in a motor vehicle collision on Taunton Road, west of Brock Road, in Pickering yesterday morning.
On August 29 at 8:18 am, officers from West Division were called to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and a transport truck. A black BMW was westbound on Taunton Road and the black transport truck, a loaded car carrier, was eastbound. The black BMW crossed over the centre line and struck the black transport truck in a near head-on collision.
The 26-year-old male driver of the BMW was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 44-year-old Pickering male, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
This is the 10th fatality on roads patrolled by the DRPS in 2019. Last year, at this time, there had been 14 fatalities.
