Man held for forcing 16-year old girl into sex trade

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a six-month long Human Trafficking investigation involving a 16-year-old victim, said Durham Police.

A 16-year-old girl reported to police that she was recruited and forced to work in the sex trade in the GTA. An investigation began and the accused was arrested yesterday during a traffic stop in Whitby, police said.

Kimel Beckford of Northview Drive in Whitby, is charged with: Procuring Person Under 18 Years; Trafficking in Person Under 18 Years; Material Benefit from Sexual Services Under 18 Years and Material Benefit Trafficking Person Under 18 Years. He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators are releasing his photo to ensure that there are no further victims.
