Man helps thief pushing stolen dirt bike

Durham police is looking for several suspects after two separate break and enters at a business in Bowmanville.

Between the night of March 15 and the morning of March 16, several suspects broke into the Clarington Honda on Spicer Square in Bowmanville. While on the property, the suspects forced open several containers and stole a 2019 Honda CRF250 and two 2019 Honda CRF4 bikes. It’s believed that they utilized a vehicle to take the bikes off the property, police said.

Again on April 8 around 6 am, a male suspect broke into the Clarington Honda showroom and stole a brand new 2019 Honda 250 dirt bike and was observed pushing the stolen dirt bike east from the dealership, eventually onto Bowmanville Avenue, police said.

A driver of a burgundy sedan stopped to render assistance to the suspect, possibly not knowing the dirt bike was stolen, they added.

The value of the four dirt bikes is approximately $35,000.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with locating the stolen dirt bikes and would like to speak with the driver who rendered assistance.
