Man tries to get into another’s car, tries to disarm officer

Durham Police said a male was arrested after assaulting a police officer on Friday in Whitby.

On November 1, at about 12:50 am, members of Central West Division responded to the area of Rossland Road East and Thickson Road North in Whitby for a male that was attempting to get into someone’s vehicle at the gas station.

When officers arrived, the male became belligerent and hostile. As officers attempted to take the male into custody, he began fighting, striking an officer and attempting to disarm them of their baton.

A male, age 33, of Ajax, was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
