Motorcyclist thrown off, suffers serious injuries

A 56-year-old Toronto man suffered serious injuries after being thrown from his motorcycle in a single-vehicle collision on Thursday.

On September 19 just before 7 pm, the Toronto man was northbound on Simcoe Street on his motorcycle when he lost control between Shirley Road and Concession Road 3 south of Port Perry in Scugog Township. He was thrown from his blue Harley Davidson motorcycle and landed in the east ditch as the motorcycle continued into a farmer’s field.

The male was transported to Lakeridge Health – Port Perry with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was later transferred by air ambulance to a Toronto trauma centre for further treatment.

The roadway was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation. Anyone with new information about the collision is asked to contact Cst. Edgar of North Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2672.
