New Bowmanville Dog Park lights not coming up this year

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that upgraded lights for the Bowmanville Leash-free Dog Park is planned to be budgeted for next year.

In October last year, the municipality had announced that the current solar lights at the Bowmanville Dog Park will be re-installed at Newcastle Leash-free Dog Park (see earlier story below). The municipality had set aside $10,000 to cover the cost of reinstallation.

The estimated cost of new lights at the Bowmanville park was not announced, neither was any timeline for their installation, and the reinstallation of lights at Newcastle Dog Park.

“Bowmanville’s furry residents will be able to enjoy an improved experience at the Leash-Free Dog Park thanks to a hardwired lighting system. Council directed staff to include the installation of the lighting system in the 2025 capital budget request,” said a municipal notice.

It said the lighting will enhance opportunities for members of the community to get together and connect in an inclusive, safe and well-lit location while providing their pets with recreation and socialization space.
