One hurt in Pickering drive-by shooting on Sunday

Durham Police are investigating after a 35-year-old male was shot in Pickering Sunday afternoon.

On March 6 at about 2:30 pm, members from West Division were dispatched to an armed person and shooting call in the area of Altona Road and Finch Avenue in Pickering. When they arrived, they located a conscious male on a residential driveway suffering from gunshot wounds, said a police statement today.

He was taken to a Toronto trauma centre where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect vehicle, that had been burnt, was located in Toronto. It has been sent to Forensic Identification Services and the investigation continues, police said.

Anyone with new information about this incident is asked to contact Det. MacKinnon of the West Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.

Last evening Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said one person has been injured in a shooting in Pickering.

“Officers are on scene of a drive-by shooting in the Altona and Finch area of Pickering,” said a police tweet yesterday.

“One person has been taken to hospital. More details to follow,” it added.
