Durham Health yesterday reported 118 new Covid-19 cases for December 20 bringing the region’s tally to 6,440 since the count began on February 29. Another 188 cases are under investigation.
One new covid death in Whitby has been added for December 18, bringing the toll so far to 231, of which 198 were in long term care homes (LTCH).
Recoveries stand at 5,308, up by 132. There were 901 active covid cases.
According to Durham Health, there were:
- 17 new cases in Pickering
- 20 in Ajax
- 15 in Whitby
- 26 in Oshawa
- 2 in Clarington, and
- One in Scugog
Thirty-two cases are hospitalized with nine in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 869 people in home isolation.
Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,826 in Ajax.
Death Toll: One in Whitby LTCH
Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 41 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Thirty-three deaths were reported in Whitby, 28 in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Oshawa, 31 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
