No new covid death posted for two days

Durham Health yesterday reported 100 new Covid-19 cases for December 20 bringing the region’s tally to 6,317 since the count began on February 29. Another 146 cases are under investigation.

No new deaths were announced for second day running.

Recoveries stand at 5,176, up by 41. There were 911 active covid cases.

According to Durham Health, there were:

  • 19 new cases in Pickering
  • 12 in Ajax
  • 13  in Whitby
  • 19 in Oshawa
  • 12 in Clarington
  • Two each in Uxbridge and Scugog, and
  • One in Brock

Thirty-four cases are hospitalized with 10 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 877 people in home isolation.

Deaths so far total 230, of which 197 were in long term care homes (LTCH).

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 1,806 in Ajax.

Death Toll:

Of the 89 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 41 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Thirty-two deaths were reported in Whitby, 27 in LTCH
Of the 39 reported deaths in Oshawa, 31 were in LTCH
Eight deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
21 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Scugog
No deaths have been reported in Brock
