Holiday changes to waste pickup

The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced changes to curbside blue box, green bin and garbage collection during the holidays.

When and where: Across Durham Region, curbside waste collection scheduled for Friday, December 25, 2020 (Christmas Day) will be moved to the next day Saturday, December 26, 2020 (Boxing Day). Collection scheduled for Friday, January 1, 2021 (New Year’s Day) will be moved to the next day, Saturday, January 2, 2021.

Why: Changes to waste collection are taking place in observance of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day statutory holidays.

Note: Durham Region’s waste management facilities and the Waste Management Call Centre will also have revised hours of operation during the holidays. View the full schedule at durham.ca/waste.

Residents living in Oshawa and Whitby have to check their waste calendars or contact the local municipality regarding waste collection during the holidays, the region said.
