An application has been received by Oshawa City Council for a new complex on Albany and Front streets.
It will include an 11 storey, 100 unit apartment building as well as a long term care home, nursing home or retirement home, said a city statement.
Permission was asked for amendments to site-specific regulations to permit certain performance standards such as, but not necessarily limited to:
- Increased residential density,
- Increased building height,
- Reduced required parking,
- Reduced front, interior and exterior yard depths,
- Permitting a parking space in a portion of the front yard,
- Permitting a parking space within a reduced distance from a streetline and
- Permitted increased encroachments of architectural features into the front and exterior side yard
Application was made to amend By-law 117-2020 to change the zoning for the lands generally located at the northwest corner of Albany Street and Front Street municipally known as 64 Albany Street and 426 Front Street from R2 (Residential) and R5-B/CIN (Residential/Community Institutional) to R6-D(5)”h-82” (Residential).
The council said all written and oral submissions received by the City of Oshawa were considered in the making of this decision.
The key map shows the location of the lands to which By-law 117-2020 applies.
The Council passed By-law Number 117-2020 on the 14th December, 2020 under Section 34 of the Planning Act,
It said if any person would like to appeal to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) in respect of the by-law, it may be done by filing with the Clerk of the City of Oshawa, not later than 6th January 2021.
i live at 418 front street we only have 3 houses at this end of front we dont want an apt looking into our backyards maybe someone should come out and talk to the home owners in the aerio
