Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said one person died at the scene of a collision in Whitby.
Early yesterday afternoon, DRPS received reports of a traffic collision at Columbus Road West and Country Lane in North Whitby.
“One vehicle on it’s side. An air ambulance has been tiered. Unknown on the extent of injuries. Expect some closures in the area. More to follow….,” it said an tweet.
An hour later, DRPS again tweeted: “Full closure E/B and W/B in Columbus Rd W at Country Lane for a serious collision. One person deceased at scene. Collision investigators attending shortly.
The road was reopened some five hours later.
“Columbus Rd W. has been re-opened in both directions. Thank you for your understanding,” said another DRPS tweet.
