Oshawa, Whitby bikers suffer serious life altering injuries

Durham police reported two horrific accidents yesterday involving motorcyclists in the City of Oshawa and in the Town of Whitby.

A motorcyclist suffered serious life-altering injuries following a three-vehicle collision in Oshawa.

On Monday, May 18 at about 10 am, members of Central East Division responded to a three-vehicle collision in the area of King Street West and Park Road North.

A Nissan SUV and a Triumph motorcycle were stopped in the left through lane on Park Road North at the intersection of Park Road North and King Street West, when a Dodge Journey collided with both vehicles from behind. The Dodge continued along the roadway finally coming to a stop after colliding with the Harvey’s restaurant at the north east corner of the intersection, police said.

No pedestrians were injured.

The 69-year-old male motorcyclist was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in critical condition with life altering injuries. His condition has since been upgraded to stable.

The 45-year-old male driver of the Nissan and his 15- and 7-year-old passengers were transported to a local-area hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Dodge, age 39 from Oshawa, did not sustain any injuries from the collision. He was arrested at the scene without incident and held for a bail hearing.

Timothy Eugene WILSON, age 39 from Oshawa is charged with: Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm, Drive While Under Suspension, and Breach Probation. He was driving while under suspension, and was also in breach of probation. Name and further details are available at www.drps.ca.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Motorcyclist sustains serious life-altering injuries in Whitby

Police said a motorcyclist sustained serious life-altering injuries following a collision in Whitby.

On Wednesday, May 20 at around 12:10 am, members of Central West Division responded to a collision in the area of Taunton Road East and Thickson Road North.

A Yamaha motorcycle was eastbound on Taunton Road East when it collided with a westbound Honda sedan turning left at the intersection.

The 21-year-old male driver and two other occupants in the Honda sustained no injuries.

The 24-year-old male motorcyclist was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious life-altering injuries, where he remains in stable condition.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The intersection was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. At this time the investigation remains ongoing.
