‘Overwhelming’ odour of weed led to haul of this gun

Durham Police yesterday said a male and two female youth are in custody after a loaded firearm and drugs were located during a traffic stop in Whitby.

On Saturday, June 29 at about 12:55 am, a member of Central West Division conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in the area of Dundas Street West and Brock Street South.

While speaking to the driver, the officer detected an overwhelming odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, drugs and a loaded handgun were found. All parties were taken into custody without incident, said a police report.

Te male, age 21 from Oshawa, and two 14-year old females from Oshawa and Pickering were charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
