Parking at Lakeshore East GO stations restricted

Metrolinx has announced that it has restricted parking at Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa GO stations.

“Some areas of the parking lot at your station are being closed off for the winter to match customer demand and use our resources efficiently,” said a Metrolinx advisory.

“With fewer people riding with us due to the pandemic, our parking lots are a lot less busy so we are closing off some parking areas for the winter,” it adding, “We won’t be removing snow in the closed off areas so please do not park there. We’ll continue to remove snow in all the other outdoor areas of the station that you use.”

Pickering: Metrolinx said elevator work is ongoing at Pickering GO. Elevators in the east tunnel will be taken out of service to carry out upgrades. This will mean some temporary changes to how commuters get on the GO.

Whitby: The elevator connecting the tunnel to tracks 1 & 2 is out of service. The station remains accessible from the pedestrian bridge in the south lot.

Bowmanville Expansion: Along the CP-owned corridor there is Geo-technical investigative work underway. This work is to collect information for the future Bowmanville Expansion Project between Oshawa GO Station and Bowmanville Avenue in Bowmanville. The geo-technical work is necessary preliminary works in advance of Bowmanville Expansion construction. This work will be ongoing for a few months into late winter 2021, Metrolinx said.
