Pay-by-Plate parking coming to Downtown Oshawa

The City of Oshawa has advised residents and vistors that the on-street parking machines in downtown Oshawa will be replaced in August.

The replacement of 82 parking machines will begin on August 12, and is anticipated to be completed by August 23.

Additionally, the Pay and Display signage at the machines will be replaced with new Pay-by-Plate signage.

With the new Pay-by-Plate parking machines, on-street parking customers are advised that:

Motorists will be prompted to enter their licence plate number when paying for parking; and,

Payment options will include:

  • Coins
  • Tokens
  • Pay-by-phone through the Honk Mobile app (Honk accepts all major credit cards, Visa Debit, PayPal & Masterpass)
  • Motorists who prefer to pay for on-street parking using a credit card can do so with the HonkMobile app.

HonkMobile can be downloaded for free on both iOS and Android at www.honkmobile.com or via the App Store or Google Play.

The changes are to the on-street parking machines only; this will not affect the payment machines and options in surface lot parking or parkades.
