The City of Pickering has announced the closure of playgrounds in three of its parks to the public while it undertakes reconstruction activities at the sites.

The impacted parks are Pinegrove Park, Glengrove Park and Bay Ridges Kinsmen Park.

Playground reconstruction will last until November 27.

Glengrove Park: Pickering said the playground at Glengrove Park will be temporarily closed for its reconstruction, including new playground equipment and replacement of the existing engineered wood fibre safety surfacing.

Playground reconstruction is projected to last until November 27.

Bay Ridges Kinsmen Park: The city said the playground at Bay Ridges Kinsmen Park will be temporarily closed for its reconstruction, including new playground equipment with rubberized safety surfacing, and new swing equipment with new engineered wood fibre safety surfacing.

Playground reconstruction is scheduled to end on November 11.

The city pointed out that project dates and timelines are carefully developed estimates and may be adjusted due to weather conditions, contractor and material availability, and unforeseen site conditions encountered during excavation.
