Pickering offers free ‘Programs in the Park 55+’

Pickering has a new free initiative, Programs in the Park 55+, throughout the month of August. It seeks to ensure the lives of 55+ residents are enriched by programs and services that support active and engaging activities.

The city said it will continue to explore new opportunities for building more inclusive and accessible programs for 55+ residents throughout this pandemic.

It is asking 55+residents to register for Programs in the Park 55+, which are free outdoor programs that will be offered to seniors once a week. Programs will include, but are or not limited to, Latin Line Dance, Pickleball (singles), Art in the Park and many more. Programs will run every Tuesday between 9 am – 11 am at the George Ashe Library & Community Centre Basketball Court and every Thursday at Esplanade Park in the Gazebo.

To reserve a spot, visit www.pickering.ca/active to register. All programs will follow the Provincial and Health Department guidelines. Pre-screening will be required before the start of every program and maximum numbers will be adhered to. Participants will be required to wear a mask during the pre-screening and check in portion of each program.
