Two-day filming of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ TV series in Durham

The City of Pickering said a film location permit has been issued for ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ TV Series from September 27 to 28.

Filming will take place on private property with a complete closure on the two days of 8th Concession Road between Sideline 6 and Balsam Road. Interior and exterior scenes will be filmed on private property at 3000, 8th Concession Road.

Equipment and trucks will be parked on private property and along 8th Concession Road. Officials will be on site for traffic control and safety, the city said.

Accommodation for emergency response vehicles will be maintained.

Based on the best-selling novel by Canadian Margaret Atwood, this series is set in Gilead, a totalitarian society in what used to be part of the United States. Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state.
