Pickering reopens select facilities from Monday

Beginning July 13, select Pickering facilities will reopen to the public for limited service appointments only.

This includes City Hall, Pickering Animal Shelter, and Pickering Public Library (computer access begins July 9).

Walk-in visitors will not be granted access at this time, and staff encourage members of the public to first check if their service request can be completed online or over the phone, said a city announcement.

Visit pickering.ca/Covid19 for a list of limited services available for in-person appointments, and health and safety expectations when visiting a city facility. Note that non-medical face masks will be required and visitors are asked to bring their own. Call 905.683.7575, email customercare@pickering.ca, or use live chat from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm for general enquiries.

The city said it is taking all public health measures to mitigate risks to employees, residents, and customers.

“While we gradually reopen the city, we must remember that the Covid-19 pandemic is not over. As such, we are taking every measure necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents, businesses, stakeholders and employees. These past four months, we have worked together to stop the spread and protect our community, so let’s continue to remain vigilant and act responsibly,” said Deputy Mayor Kevin Ashe.
