Pickering traffic stop leads to arrest, gun seizure

A traffic stop led to a loaded firearm being taken off the streets on Saturday, Durham police said.

On July 4 at about 2 pm, members of West Division were on patrol when they stopped a vehicle in the area of Brock Road and Major Oaks Road in Pickering for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. The male driver of the vehicle was on court conditions to remain in his residence unless with his surety. The male was taken into custody and further investigation revealed a loaded handgun in the vehicle, police said.

Logan Cardoza, age 27 of Pickering, faces nine charges including: Fail to Comply with Release Order; Drive Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available; Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm and Careless Storage of a Firearm. He was held for a bail hearing.
